• Africa carries an inordinately high number of infections as compared to other continents.
• Communities most affected are found in the poor, disadvantaged, under-serviced and under-resourced areas of our country.
• Disease management is favourably influenced by a healthy diet, exercise and an attitude of life that is more optimistic than pessimistic.

FAMSA’s programmes as regards HIV/Aids Management and preventions includes the following:

• Networking and participating in HIV / Aids activities.
• Developing HIV / Aids management and prevention training manuals.
• Presenting programmes to youth and adults on sexuality, HIV / Aids awareness management and prevention.
• Counselling persons with HIV / Aids and their families.
• Training of HIV / Aids caregivers in communities to give care and support to those infected and affected.
• Presentation and facilitation of workshops on pre- and post testing, disclosure and treatment management.
• Management of grief and loss.
• Post traumatic stress counselling.
• Public education talks to community and corporate groups.
• Facilitating the development and establishment of HIV / Aids caregivers community based organisations.
