Community Development - POVERTY ALLEVIATION AND JOB CREATION

Households most vulnerable to poverty are in the rural, peri-urban and township areas. While the rural areas are characterised by chronic proportions of unemployment income generation in the urban areas in general remains below the bread line.
The numbers of young school leavers in the labour market are increasing progressively every year. Existing industry is not able to absorb all these increasing numbers at adequate rates.

Poverty and lack of finances are serious causes of family disorganisation and community destabilization.

FAMSA integrates community development and socio-economic empowerment approaches for family preservation through the following projects:

  • Personal growth and skills training
  • Income generating project development
  • Poverty alleviation projects
  • Facilitating community initiatives to access government funding and grants.
  • Training in the development and management of Community Based Organisations
  • Facilitating networking, alliances and collaborations among community services
